Technology brain cramp

I find that my trusty printer, the Hewlett Packard 5P (C3150A, serial number USHB167638, manufactured May, 1996), has run out of toner. Because I track such things, I know that I last replaced the toner cartridge 2/24/2000 when the printer had 7940 pages on it. Now, 4.5 years later, it has 14411 pages on it. I spent about $75 on the cartridge at the time. So I know I've gotten my money's worth out of the cartridge ($0.01159 per page). Here's my dilemma: I want a new printer because this one is slow and old, but I am unable to justify it because the printer works fine, and as an authorized repairer for this printer I could maintain it until the sun don't shine no more. A new cartridge is another $75 and then I'm stuck with the thing until 2009. The point is, I find myself unable to cope with the concept of projecting my printer usage that far into the future.
