Fall TV Reviews!

I've seen a few of the new fall shows, and offer these comments:

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip I'm sorry. I like Aaron Sorkin. But this show is crap. It's like he said to himself, "Sports Night was good, and West Wing was good. If I combine them, the result will be even better! How much for a gram?" He's even using the same font is the titling of the shows. Seriously- he even kept the drop-cap thing. Have some damned creativity. And I'm sick of Bradley Whitford. He's got one character, and that character was good in Canadian Bacon, and was perfect in West Wing. Now take Jane Kazmerek and go retire somewhere. You've both typecast yourselves.

30 Rock I think this one will be pretty good. Tina Fey is much more natural in this than she was in SNL, and the characters seem to mesh well. And Tracy Morgan is bat shit nuts. Which is nice.

NBC in general: why do you have two shows about basically the same thing on at the same time? Nobody cares that much about the ins and outs of a late night comedy sketch show.

Law and Order: Criminal Intent I'm a big fan of Julianne Nicholson, and she plays the partner of Christopher Noth. I like the Criminal Intent variety of the Law and Order brand- it's a little fanciful and perhaps less realistic, but I do enjoy the ride.

Twenty Good Years It's a "The Odd Couple" ripoff. If you, humble viewer, can get past that, you might have something. John Lithgow plays Oscar Madison. He too is reprising another character from the past. I'll watch more of it, but if Shatner shows up playing anything even resembling a big giant head, I'm out.

Speaking of Shatner, could that Boston Legal show be any worse?

Finally, next time you're in a Starbucks, check out the big gingersnap cookie. Mind blowing, if gingernaps are your bag, sicko.
