Congress bans lightbulbs.

I wonder if this counts Christmas lights?

1. Enjoy all that delicious mercury.

2. It seems ridiculous to me. They cost less, and consume less energy. Why do we need to ban the inferior product? What about applications that need incandescent (if there are any)? What about the tons of inventory already on order? How many jobs has Congress legislated away with this?

1- Your coal plant spews more mercury powering your regular lightbulb than is contained in a CFL.

2- The CFL is cheaper in the long run, but more expensive in the short run. I suppose they feel people will not think ahead.

3- There probably hasn't been a lightbulb manufactured in the US for 10 years.
